15:00 – 15:10 – BREAK
15:10 – 16:00 – Simplifying the management of adults with symptomatic chronic heart failure and Annual Heart failure review – What to expect.

 

Speakers

Helena Masters joined BI in January 2022 as a HF medical educator following  an extensive career in intensive care, cardiothoracic ITU and cardiology before working for 18 as a heart failure nurse specialist in both secondary care and the community. Her last placement was a clinical lead heart failure nurse managing a team of nurses and various projects in heart failure. Helena is a non-medical prescriber with a degree in health care studies and has various courses studied at master’s level including advanced communication. Helena is a Queens nurse which means she is committed to high standards of practice and patient centred care. She has helped set up the British Society of Heart Failure Nurse Forum and has facilitated a myriad of education programs including level 6 and 7 heart failure courses. Helena has a passion for heart failure and heart failure education. She is currently in the third year of the Doctorate in Nursing course at Oxford Brookes University. She also works one day a week at Enfield managing a project on inequalities and HF.

Dr Ameet Bakhai – Consultant Cardiologist

R&D Director at the Royal Free London NHS Trust UK, a Harvard Scholar, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the European Society of Cardiology.

He has enabled innovation of drugs, devices and diagnostics in multiple cardiac areas of heart failure, atrial fibrillation, acute coronary syndromes and risk factor reduction for cardiovascular events.

He is a founder, author and has published over 100 papers and received a national award for a decade of work in clinical cardiovascular research from the Royal College of Physicians and is a recognised for Clinical Trials & Research, Technology Innovation and Medical Education.
